Pile Driving and Pile Manufacturing
Presented by
Martin Ros (MENCK GmbH) & Jack Op den Kamp (SIF Group BV)
The presentation covers the history, the state-of-the-art and future outlook of pile driving impact hammer and driving techniques with regard to various offshore foundation structures. Topics of the presentation will touch the following disciplines:
- mechanical, hydraulical and electrical features of the hammer & equipment and the resulting driving capabilities above and under water
- description of the relation between soil conditions/resistances, hammer/piling energy transfer, piling stresses and fatigue impact on driven piles as design criteria of todays foundation structures in various offshore industries
- state-of-the-art hammer-pile adaptations with respect to increasing pile diameters and future possibilities/restrictions
- (in between) Manufacturing of Piles (SIF)
- experiences with the drive-drill-drive technique for combined soils (sediment-rock)
- above and under water noise protection systems
- Project examples
Martin Ros, as a graduated marine/oceanographic geologiest, has over 15 years experience in the geotechnical and the offshore engineering industry starting in the sector of applied geology as Project Manager for environmental and geotechnical field studies in various companies. Joining MENCK in 2001 as Project Manager for the Oil & Gas and Offshore Wind sector, he started in 2002 to develop the piling foundation market segments Offshore Wind, bridges and harbours as Technical Sales Manager world wide.
Jack Op den Kamp has graduated as mechanical engineer. After graduating he held several positions, combining technology & organizational skills. In 1974 he joined Sif Group bv, where he always acted in the sphere of the above-mentioned disciplines, completed with the discipline Commerce. When he took up his duties with Sif Group bv, the company was still specifically oriented towards the pressure vessel industry. The (technical) knowledge gathered from this specific market, has proven to be of importance for the current market at which Sif Group bv operates: the fabrication of round products / piles for the offshore industry, specifically piles for jacket construction and foundation piles for offshore wind turbines.
Jack holds the position of General Director and is responsible for (the development of) the organization. He is also in charge of the commercial aspect. Together with the Sales Dept. he is responsible for the (technical) sales activities of the substantial projects. Jack has broad experience within the offshore industry and the organization and therefore he has established a good reputation in the sphere of technical possibilities for producing top quality piles. |
